Important Updates about 2024-2025 FAFSA

Congress recently passed laws to simplify and streamline the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to expand access to Federal Pell Grants. You can learn more about the FAFSA Simplification Act by visiting the Department of Education website.

Delays and Challenges

Most families are able to complete and submit the 2024-25 FAFSA now. If you have not completed your FAFSA application, please submit one here. MSU Denver’s Federal School Code is 001360, which is needed to have your FAFSA sent to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

However, due to processing delays from the Department of Education, schools will not receive FAFSA data until mid-March. Please visit http://studentaid.gov/announcements-events/fafsa-support for more information.

What does this mean for students and families?

  • The anticipated date for students to receive financial aid offer letters will be the beginning of May. Once your information is received you will receive an email from MSU Denver’s Office of Financial Aid.
  • Some students may not be able to submit the FAFSA currently due to issues with the new application that the Department of Education is attempting to resolve. Please visit 2024-2025 FAFSA Known Issues and Workarounds for more information.
  • MSU Denver has extended its target date until May 3, 2024 for FAFSA submission to be considered for all eligible and available aid. If the Department of Education has not resolved issues that allow students and families to submit their FAFSA by this date, this date may be extended for students and families experiencing these issues.
